Do you know that there are synthetic diamonds which are every bit as perfect as the natural diamonds?
When someone says diamond you seldom think about all the time and effort that goes into getting these beautiful little gems into your hands. Diamond mining is highly risky and it is very pricey too that is the reason why these tiny gem stones are so costly. You might be delighted that diamond ring that your fiance got you or those diamond earrings you got as a gift on your 18th birthday, but getting them to the shop was quite a drudging procedure.
Sounds complicated, doesn't it? Now did you know that there is a means to create the beauty of diamonds in a less costly way and in a way that is not hazardous at all? Thanks to the advances in technology, synthetic diamonds can reproduce what the nature gives to us and it is done in a less pricey and less destructive way. Synthetic diamonds are rapidly becoming every bit as good and just as popular as the natural thing.
Diamonds have been sought after for centuries but because it is a finite resource, it is also going to run out someday. This has heartened and encouraged chemist and scientists to find a way to still produce the jewel that we admire in a way that does not bring devastation to the environment. Some other ways that you might be aware of are faceted glass rhinestones and cubic zirconium. These have been the least desirable type of synthetic gemstones and have never truly been quite as brilliant as the natural diamond that comes from the earth.
Yet, thanks to the discovery of moissanite in meteor fragments and scientists figuring out that moissanite can actually be reproduced in controlled circumstance, the synthetic diamond was born.
This science may sound futuristic but the discovery of the production of moissanite in controlled circumstances dates to as far back as 1995. Scientists were already very aware of how valuable diamonds were so the opportunity for synthetic stones was there to be taken.
It is yet still fairly precarious to produce these stones and the expense of this diamond is probably larger than you expect but it is certainly a more environmentally friendly option. There are many gemologists who feel that moissanite stone is actually a gem in its own right. This is because, unlike with previous diamond substitutes, the synthetic kind that are made of moissanite is, to a degree, higher-ranking to authentic diamonds. This is because they truly tend to be brighter and have more radiance than natural diamonds.
Lab grown diamonds give you the opportunity to choose a stone that looks just like a diamond without taking a step down in the quality of a fake. Before modern lab diamonds existed, recreated diamonds were a compromise in quality but thanks to technology this is no longer the case.
